MID-SEMESTER UPDATE
Hey AIChE/SBE Members,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their support as AIChE undergoes changes to accommodate the growth in interest and students in our department. We appreciate the large number of students attending our social and industry events, from our orientation and picnic to our graduate school panel and industry representative presentations.

1. BD Plant Tour
On Wednesday, October 29th, we will be hosting a plant tour at the local Becton, Dickinson, & Company (BD) Diagnostics Plant. BD is one of the world’s biggest medical technology company, manufacturing and selling medical devices, instrument systems, and reagents. BD Diagnostics sells specimen collection and transport services and laboratory testing equipment. The segment is composed of two operating units: Preanalytical Systems (sample collection) and Diagnostic Systems (microbiology testing products and molecular assays). 2. Bert’s Night
We are proud to continue our annual tradition of Bert’s Night (formerly known as Rocky Run Night) this November. This is an opportunity for students to meet a few of the professors from our department as they treat us to a meal. The event will take place on November 13th. Keep an ear open for further information in your classes as we get closer to the event date.
3. ChemE Car Competition
The ChemE Car Team is already in the planning process and will have a decision on the reaction within the next week. If you are interested in participating in the building or experimentation of the car, please contact

4. National AIChE Membership
There is still time to take advantage of a free membership to the national section of AIChE, through the Scale-Up Program. 5. Free Testing from Princeton Review
The Princeton Review located in Charles Village has extended an invitation to the students of our organization for free practice Exams. On November 15th, there will be a Free Practice Test day held in their Princeton Review offices (across from Chipotle, off of St. Paul Street) for the GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, and GRE. If you are interested in participating in this promotion, please feel free to sign up. Simply go to princetonreview.com, search for the test that you are interested in along with the center zip code (21218).
