General Routes

From the North – Take I-95 or I-83 South to I-695 West. Take Exit #23, I-83 South, the Jones Falls Expressway to Exit 9A, East on Coldspring Lane.  Make a right on Roland Ave.  Keep left.  Roland turns into University Parkway.  Make a right on St. Paul Street. Charles Commons will be on your right (above Barnes and Nobles.  For Hodson Hall, make a right onto 33rd Street and then a left on Charles Street. Make the first possible right onto Art Museum Drive and then bear right to get onto San Martin Drive.  Make a right at the third gate and then a left (away from the garage entrance). Hodson Hall will be the second building on your right.

From the South – I-95 North to I-395 downtown. Follow to right on Pratt St. Take a left on Calvert St. Turn left before Union Memorial hospital onto 33rd Street. Charles Commons will be on your right (above Barnes and Nobles). For Hodson Hall, continue straight on 33rd straight and then make a left on Charles Street. Make the first possible right onto Art Museum Drive and then bear right to get onto San Martin Drive.  Make a right at the third gate and then a left (away from the garage entrance). Hodson Hall will be the second building on your right.

From the Airports – Transportation will not be provided.  Please plan ahead in arranging transportation to and from campus.

***Important***  You must enter Charles Commons from the public entrance on the side adjacent to 33rd street (door will be next to Barnes and Nobles)

Parking Information

In addition to the lots below, short term metered parking is available on surrounding streets surrounding the Johns Hopkins Campus.



South Garage
The primary Visitor parking area is the South Garage.  It can be accessed from Wyman Park Drive, between San Martin Drive and Art Museum Drive.  The garage is located under the Decker Quadrangle.  The garage will operate without parking attendants and is open 24 hours per day.  However, the Parking Office in the garage will generally be staffed Monday through Friday from 7:00am - 10:00pm and weekends from 11:00am - 6:00pm to assist customers.

The exit gates are programmed to accept paid entry tickets, exit vouchers and credit cards.  The Pay Station is located in the vestibule next to the Parking Office.

Visitor Parking Charges:

San Martin Garage
Another parking facility available for visitors is the San Martin garage, located along San Martin Drive, across from the West Gate entrance to JHU.

Hourly Rates:

The San Martin garage is a fully automated garage, with pay stations available on the pedestrian walkbridge (headed toward campus) and the lobby (located on the P5 level of the garage, northern edge, near the Carnegie Institute). The garage also accepts credit card payments at the exit gates.


North Metered Visitor Lot
The North Visitor lot is a multi-space “pay and display” parking area, accessed from San Martin Drive. This 30 space area is located beside and downhill from the Athletic field, next to the ROTC building, and prior to entering the reserved sections of parking that includes the Muller Deck (gated) and Athletics Reserved parking (hangtag only).

Visitors should park their car, pay with a credit card (or quarters if you’re patient!) at the meter, and put the resulting receipt face up on their dashboard. Parking fees are in effect every day 6am – 11pm.
