Changes to Safety Qualification Rules:
Online safety training is now available for those teams that did not attend the live safety training at the national conference. ALL members are required to watch the safety lectures and ALL members must pass the test in order to qualify your team to compete. If a member of your team attended one of the live safety training sessions within the last 2 years (Nashville or Philadelphia), then your team is already qualified. More information is available at http://www.aiche.org/Students/Conferences/regcarsafety.aspx.
Intent to Compete:
All schools participating in this year’s competition must submit the Letter of Intent Form (http://jhuaiche.org/cheme-car-intent-letter) no later than February 5, 2010.
Multiple entries from each school are permitted in the regional competition. However, we reserve the right to limit the number of entries from each school due to venue size constraints. Each team should complete a separate letter of intent.
Your prompt and complete response will help us plan for the competition. This form is non-binding and is NOT the same as registering.
Venue:
The competition will be held in the Auxiliary Gymnasium of the Newton H. White Jr. Athletic Center at the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus in Baltimore, MD. The competition surface will be waxed hardwood floor. This venue is capable of accommodating the maximum distance.
Registration:
All teams must submit the registration form along with payment of $30 by March 14, 2010. This form and options for electronic payment are available on the conference website (http://jhuaiche.org/2010-regional-conference). Note each participating student must also register for the conference individually. Deadlines and instructions for individual registration are also available on the conference website.
Shipment of Cars and Chemicals:
Chemicals will NOT be provided by Johns Hopkins University. Hydrogen (if needed) and deionized water will be available on site, but teams will be responsible for purchasing and arranging for safe delivery of the chemicals and quantities they need for their own participation.
Do not attempt to bring chemicals or ChemE Cars on public transportation, and be sure to ship all chemicals following DOT regulations.
All materials need to be received between the dates of March 29 and April 14, 2010.
Detailed shipping instructions are posted on the conference website.
